Reading a nice comment about rushpoker at the
ramblings of a mad man blog I would like to add my thoughts as well.
The fishes have an easier life in rushpoker compared to the normal games. No more fish hunting and way more important there are way less reads on fishes anymore. All this pokertracker stuff and detailed note taking is so horrible. What the sense if a fish plays with five other guys who have detailed stats about any tendencies and mistakes the fish does. In the end the fish will anyways loose his money but if one can give him more playing time for his money that’s great.
The poker sites, or better to say Full Tilt, obviously profits from this. A longer living fish pays more rake and more hands per hour in rushpoker are equal to more rake.
The only one losing by the rushpoker trend is the pro, or better to call him the semi pro. A real pro should like rushpoker. He needs to find different strategies and might have a lower expected value per hand – but the way increased rate of hands per hour must always more than compensate for this.
The bunch semi pros grinding for low hourly rates using some dump pokertracker stats system might not beat rushpoker anymore. They don’t have the class to adept to the new game. They aren’t able to find new tactics. That is a problem? Why, why, why?
The same happens every time again and again. Guys (like me lol) who belonged to the top online pros six years ago cant beat todays top games anymore because there are other new better pros. People who loved to play one fish in holdem might have found out he started to play Omaha only. Should one forbid Omaha now? Nooo of course not. But for the same reason there is nothing bad about rushpoker either.
I called this topic “a general view on poker environment”. Let me explain why.
I believe everything a poker site does to help the fishes is great stuff. The big majority of the poker pros don’t help the game at all!
This might sound extreme but lets face it: Without fishes whole poker would be dead. There would be nearly no games running anymore. So if you help the fishes to have more success and possibly make them stay longer this helps poker.
The real big pros like Doyle help poker a lot by bringing in publicity and all this. Some pros waiting at the tables for fishes aren’t wrong either I guess. After all the fish wants to play and if there is someone waiting to give him action he likes it and it increases chances he comes back.
But the tendency of having six pros hunting one fish looks way too imbalanced to me. Get out half of these pros and we have a better game for everyone. Rushpoker might help doing just this. At least one could get this impression when hearing so many “pros” moaning one couldn’t beat rushpoker, it would be pure gambling.
What do you guys think?
